DELXC 6 Hour Trail Run

Posted on Aug 28, 2009 under Mountain Biking, News, Special Events | No Comment

I received some flyers today addressed to Narangba Runners about a trail run west of Brisbane on 27th September. It was exciting to receive something in the mail addressed to Narangba Runners considering we don’t officially have a mailing address but when I opened it there was a distinct feel of a mountain bike event about it. Anyway, as it turns out they are holding this 6 hour trail run in September and then in October there is a mountain bike enduro on the same course. You can find all the details at www.delxc.com.

Details are here and here.

8 Hour MTB Enduro Cancelled

Posted on Jul 27, 2009 under Mountain Biking, News, Special Events | No Comment

Just a heads up that the 8 Hour Enduro has been cancelled. According to the website Geocentric are looking for a suitable organisation to take over the running of the 6, 8 and 24 hour enduro’s. It’s disappointing as they were very close for us and it’s a good course to ride.

The Lakes College Fun Run and Fair

It’s on again, the 2009 Lakes College Fun Run.

The event to be held on the 16th of August caters for all ages and fitness levels over 2, 6 and 10km scenic courses around the North Lakes residential community.

You can register online as an individual or enter a team in the Community Shield Relay where you could win prize money for the charity or not-for-profit group of your choice. Last year’s relay winners, Breaking Point Boot Camp, donated the prizemoney to the Breast Cancer Foundation.

Full details and entry forms are available here.

Hares and Hounds Trail Run

Posted on Dec 23, 2008 under Special Events | No Comment

My last post before Christmas - I promise! Tamyka from the Trail Running Association of Queensland sent me an email today and a summary of it follows.

On the 11th of January we will be holding the Hares & Hounds trail runs in Beerburrum State Forest.  There are 5km and 10km fun runs, as well as a 55km main event that can be run solo (hares) or in a relay team (hounds).  It is a fun, low-fuss event for a busy time of year. I have attached an information sheet/entry form and you can get full details (and online entry) from our website http://runtrails.org/articles/?p=796 . We’ve had a good response so far, but the more the merrier, so please consider coming along for a run, a swim and a bbq lunch (Or, if you’re not in the mood for a run, come along and cheer on some runners).

Sounds like something we might enjoy getting involved in. The entry form that was attached is here.

Pleasures of Mt Mee

Posted on Oct 18, 2008 under Our Runs, Run Reports, Special Events | 2 Comments
The conditions were perfect this morning for our Mt Mee run although a little chilly for some of us who were caught shivering momentarily while waiting for everyone to arrive. The Caboolture Road Runners, Narangba Runners and Bellthorpe Trail Runners were well represented with all the BTR’s showing up. CRR legend Mark took a photo of us before we started so I will add that to this post when I can get hold of it. There is now talk of making this a monthly run where we can track our improvement over time.

After the run we had a cuppa, some damper with golden syrup freshly prepared by Wendy and a chat before most of us headed for home. The intrepid adventurers, Mark and Steve, also brought their mountain bikes along and headed off on those. Mark was riding his customised “stretch” MTB so hopefully they weren’t planning to do any serious downhill runs.

See you on the roads and trails, Ron

….and as promised the photo has now been included minus Mark who took it. Please don’t let the sight of us put you off joining us for future runs.

Next Week

Next week is “Trail Running” week for Narangba Runners. On Tuesday the 14th of October we are heading for the Sheepstation Creek Environmental Park at the later start time of 7:00pm. The later start time will give everyone time to find the location and the full moon will be a little higher. We will meet at the end of Williamson Road Morayfield. There is also the option of a run from the Narangba Station at 6:30pm as usual. A couple of runners have indicated they will definitely be running from there.

On Saturday the 18th of October we head for Mt Mee to run the 13k Somerset Trail. We will be meeting at The Gantry picnic area on Sellin Road at 7:00am.

See you at one of our runs, Ron
